Register company in Poland – easier than in most European countries. GEM Poland Report 2025

To register company in Poland is widely seen as a simple and accessible process. According to the latest GEM Poland 2025 report, as many as 83% of Poles believe that starting a business is easy. This result significantly exceeds the European average of 48%. In practice, it means that Poland ranks at the top of the European list – even ahead of advanced economies such as Sweden (78%).
For foreign investors, this is a clear signal: the local ecosystem fosters entrepreneurship and is perceived as open and business-friendly. In contrast, in many Southern European countries, starting a business still involves bureaucratic hurdles – in Italy, only 22% of citizens say it is easy to start a business, in Spain 27%, and in Greece 30%. Compared to these countries, Poland stands out as exceptionally supportive for launching a new business.
Poland particularly stands out in terms of market openness, scoring 6.6 out of 10 – higher than the European average of 5.2. This confirms that the Polish economy is receptive and ready for new entrants. Companies entering the market can expect room for growth, increasing domestic demand and a high level of competition that stimulates innovation.
The technical infrastructure (5.8 points) and commercial & service infrastructure (4.5 points) were rated slightly below the European average (6.3 and 5.3 points respectively), indicating that while the business environment is stable, there is still room for improvement.
Poland is situated in the heart of Europe, bordering Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Baltic States. It is also one of the largest markets in Central and Eastern Europe. As such, registering a company in Poland gives entrepreneurs access not only to the 38-million-strong domestic market, but also to the entire European Union with over 400 million consumers.
For companies planning regional expansion, Poland can serve as an ideal entry point – both due to its logistics and its growing importance in global supply chains.
An interesting phenomenon is that although Poles perceive starting a business as easy, the rate of entrepreneurial intent is lower than the European average (3.1% vs. 15%). In other words, while people recognise the simplicity of the registration process, they don’t always choose to take that step.
The data indicates a paradox: despite high confidence in the ease of registering a company in Poland, fewer people plan to launch a business compared to other European countries. This suggests a gap between perception and actual entrepreneurial activity.
According to the NECI index, which evaluates entrepreneurial conditions in 25 European countries, Poland ranks 21st with a score of 4.0. This is below the average, indicating that the institutional environment still needs improvement.
However, it is worth noting that Poland performs better than several neighbouring countries, including Croatia (3.9), Slovakia (3.7), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (3.4).

Poland is a country where the administrative procedures related to starting a business are perceived as straightforward, and the business environment is increasingly open to innovation and foreign capital. To register a company in Poland means not only an easy launch but also entry into a dynamic market with strategic importance for the whole of Europe.
Thanks to its strong consumer potential, well-developed infrastructure and growing role in the European economy, Poland is becoming one of the most attractive locations for investment and business development in the region.
