- 114 days off, including weekends and public holidays

An important issue is holidays that fall on Saturdays, as employees are entitled to an additional day off.
Taking time off for holidays falling on Saturdays
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, which is typically a non-working day, according to Article 130 § 2 of the Labour Code, employees are entitled to an additional day off. In 2026, this applies to two dates:
- August 15 (Saturday) – Polish Armed Forces Day, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- December 26 (Saturday) – Christmas (Second Day)
The employer is obligated to provide the day off by the end of the settlement period, or in the case of a monthly settlement period, within the same month.
Rules for taking the day off
- Time of use: The day off for a holiday falling on a Saturday must be scheduled by the employer or agreed upon with the employee.
- One-time use: The employer cannot split the day off into several shorter periods – it must be a full day.
- Weekend work: Employees employed under weekend contracts are not entitled to an additional day off for a holiday falling on a Saturday.
- Failure to grant the day off: If the employer neglects their obligation, they may be fined between 1,000 and 30,000 PLN and may be required to pay wages with overtime pay
